米・アリゾナ州フェニックスのWren House Brewingとのコラボレーションで実現したヘレスラガー。ギャラクシーとサマーホップでドライホッピングを施したジャーマンスタイルヘレスを、同じくアリゾナ州のSuperstition Meadryのミードバレルにて熟成させた、ほのかなモルトの香りと素晴らしいトロピカルホップのアロマを感じさせるさわやかな味わいが特徴の、ミッケラーサンディエゴ渾身の「最高のラガー」。

A few years ago we had the special pleasure of brewing a pair of beers with our friends at Wren House Brewing in Phoenix, AZ. One of the beers to come from that trip was a Pilsner that we lagered in Mead barrels and then dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin. The beer was soooo good, we had to produce a redux here at Mikkeller SD. Our version is a German-style Helles, featuring Galaxy and Summer hops. Also lagered in mead barrels, this version is crisp, with subtle malt notes and awesome tropical hop character. This is our best lager yet.

Uniquely, this Helles-style lager is cold-conditioned in not just any old ‘mead’ barrel – the casks used for this project began as ‘Elijah Craig 9 YR’ bourbon barrels, before being used by Superstition Meadery to age their 100% mesquite honey traditional mead. Mikkeller San Diego has had the pleasure of showcasing Superstition mead barrel-aged products for over 4 years, but this is the first time we have used them for actually lagering a beer!
