At the start of the month, we had the pleasure of having Brent McGlashen from @machopsnz come over from New Zealand to brew a beer with us, and provided an excellent educational evening about all things hops in our very own taproom. Mac Hops are a multi-generational family hop farm located in the Tasman region of Nelson and are one of the most highly regarded growers in the country. Brent talked through the journey of the hop harvest from start to finish, their mission of connecting family hop farms to the world’s finest brewers and why a grower-owned supply chain is essential to a sustainable beer industry.
We hopped the beer with three excellent NZ hops – Nelson, Motueka and Rakau, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.
